Gary was a faculty member at Desert Sun School from 1963 to 1965. He taught band and choir and was a dorm parent for Anderson boy's dorm. Gary also attended DSS as a 7th & 8th grader from 1949 to 1951, and as a summer camper from 1945 to 1955. His parents are Winnie & Ikie Hammond, who directed and produced many musicals and summer camps until the 1970s. Gary's wife, Ann Hanzlik Hammond, was also a dorm parent at Anderson and attended DSS summer camps several times in the late '50s. She was a also a camp counselor and riding instructor. Gary and Ann own and operate Hammond Music Service -- producing rehearsal CDs and tapes for all-state, school, college, church and community choirs around the world. As of July 1, 2005, their daugher-in-law, Diane Hammond and son Greg Hammond have taken over selling the major works, of which there are more than 300 in their online catalog. This leaves Gary & Ann more free to enjoy their grandsons and granddaughter as well as do more traveling. Their web site is www.songlearning.com. They live in Fern Valley, one mile down the road from Humber Park and the start of Devil's Slide Trail. They are moving to Bozeman, Montana, in late February, 2006. Their youngest, Jenny Hammond Huston, fine artist husband Steve Huston, son Duke, daughter Isabel, live only 1.5 miles from their new home in Bozeman.
