Joe Roseman (faculty)

Joseph A. Roseman III'd , 76, passed away on Nov. 22, 2019 in N California. He was from Glenview, Ill., a 20 year teacher and past Chair of the Spanish Dept. at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Ca., Eagle Scout, University of Iowa grad. and Swim Team member there 4 yrs. and D. U. Fraternity. He served in the Peace Corps ( Chile), 4yrs. and was a teacher at the Desert Sun School ( later renamed the Elliot Pope Prep School), in Idyllwild, Ca. ( So. Cal.) from 1976 to his appointment at D. L. I. in the late 80's - early 90's. He had a Masters Degree in Spanish Language from UIC and another, in Spanish History/literature from the university of Madrid.

He met and married the love of his life and most delightful lady, Karen Wagstaff of San Diego late in life, and married her Dec. 18th, 1982 in Idyllwild, Ca., (I was his best man).
It was extremely unfortunate and long suffering that Karen succumbed to M.S. and was bedridden and in pain for almost 10 years. When she passed some 18 months ago,
Joe collapsed and was interred in hospice in total despair; he truly died of a broken heart, and it should be put as his real cause of death.

Second born in 1943 of 9 children to Joseph A. and Lucille (Hoffman) Roseman on Glenview Rd., we all graduated O.L.P.H. grade school and were third generation parishioners there. Joe was actively engaged in his Catholic faith his whole life. A memorable moment for Joe and the family was a cover photo of the Glenview Announcements with J.F.K. speaking in front of the Palladium at our Parish and Joe right near him in that photo, in his Eagle Scout uniform. It inspired him to latter join the Peace Corps, where a photo of Joe in Chile served as their monthly magazine cover worldwide.

No children, but a host of dear friends who loved him, (and his wonderful sense of humor), as family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Adios Amigos, God Speed,
We loved you.
