Property Records

What would you pay for the Desert Sun School campus, buildings and all?  In May of 1944, Richard and Edith Elliott paid just $25,000 for the entire 40-acre property -- including Saunder's Meadow Lodge.  They bought it from a single woman by the name of Leila Braunschweiger, who apparently owned the property outright.  The Elliotts signed a Trust Deed with Ms. Braunschweiger for $25,000 with a 5% interest rate.  Their monthly payments for the whole campus amounted to just $200.

Click on the number links below to see microfilm copies of the original documents.  Pages one and two are the $25,000 trust deed.  Page three is particularly interesting because it contains a list of all the original furnishings that were in the Lodge at the time and included in the purchase.  Page five is the actual title to the property.
